I love to run. I love the endorphins I get when I run. Manila does not have very many good places to
run, parks are far and in between. One common option for runners is to run in cemeteries. They are a great compromise to a full-blown park.
Recently I was at the “Libingan ng Mga Bayani” (Cemetery of Heroes). There lay the tombs of common privates and lesser soldiers as well national heroes of the country. As I walked to recover I was reminded of the verses in Psalm 62:9 Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; if weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
In the end all men are confronted with the great equalizer – death. It does not matter who you are one day we all perish. Then I thought there is yet another great equalizer that we can all experience long before we face death on this earth - Prayer.
The ability to go into heights despite our limitations. The grace to overcome our adversities regardless of where we're at. The power to be who God made us to be. The boost that we need when we're down. The simple act that opens the window of heaven. The greatest gift God has given us - access to no one less than Himself.
