Prayer is the underestimated weapon of the Christian. It can change the course of history and turn things around. All too often we pray only in times of emergency and urgent need and that’s not altogether a bad thing. That’s better than not responding in prayer at all.
However, there is an even better way to maximize prayer – and that’s to pray even when it does not seem necessary. I guess the hardest thing about prayer is because it doesn’t look like something is happening – and that lie is straight from hell. That’s how the devil wants it – for he knows how powerful prayer can be.
To encourage you to pray this week meditate on the words of James and realize that your prayers are powerful and effective, though you may think that you are just an ordinary man.
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. James 5:16b-18
Good preaching for prayer warriors.
