This January our church is starting a brand new series entitled Sync. The idea behind the series is to be in Sync with God. Getting His heartbeat and being in step with His will. The question is how to do we get there?
Being in sync with God is no different from 2 two-way radios communicating with each other. Unless they are synchronized on the same channel or are in the same frequency there will be no transmission of the information. The key is to synchronize.
There are 2 ways I know that can assure us that we can be in sync with God. Read our Bibles and pray everyday. To be in step with God is to be instep with His will.
Why read your Bible? You can’t be in step with God’s will unless you know what it is. Why pray? Because prayer acknowledges God’s mercy towards us as an eternal God, prayer is a place of offering our lives as living sacrifices – our spiritual act of worship, and it is in prayer and reading the Bible that we renew our minds.
Scripture tells us that when we do these things we will be able to test
and approve – be in agreement or better yet be in sync with God’s will,
His good, pleasing and perfect will.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your
bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your
spiritual act of worship.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.
