Prayer is indeed communicating with God. This is so basic but we often forget because we're so caught up with our own situation, issues, needs and wants. That's why there is a tendency for us to reduce God to a genie who will make our wishes his command.
To pray is first to acknowledge that He exists and that we are dependent on Him.
Thank you for this post Pastor Joey. I have yet alot of prayers that remain unanswered and alot of things that I cannot comprehend but I trust in His higher ways . The ways of a Father who has my best interest in mind.

Bible Promises on Prayer

God fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them (Ps 145:19). The Lord will listen to a person who call upon Him and seek Him with all his heart (Jeremiah 29:12-13). In prayer it takes asking, seeking and knocking before we can receive, find, and have an open door (Matthew 7:7-8). Jesus promised that if we remain in Him and His words remain in us, we can see answers to our prayers (John 15:7). That means our prayer must be consistent with God’s word because the word of God is the will of God. The apostle John wrote that we can receive from God when we obey his commands and do what pleases him (1 John 3:22). We can have this confidence in approaching God that if we ask anything according to his will, He hears us (1 John 5:14).

well said. when it's all said and done, it's about god's will being done and not mine. if we keep in mind the "scooter parallel" (ie, my understanding compared to god's is like the hamster's brain compared to mine), we also know there are things we may never fully comprehend -- only god knows the "big picture."

prayer is a topic which is always in season! it is sometimes a misconception to some who only pray when they need something. it is also amazing how we react when God does not seem to answer our prayers. However, when we turn our eyes to God and say He is the Boss, confusion will vanish, His peace will overwhelm us, and we know immediately that His answer is always on time, we only got impatient at times. It's all about Lordship!..thank you for your article Pastor Joey! I would love to read more of this topic!
